According to recent studies among Australian men aged 75 or older, the age over 75 doesn’t mean an end to sex. Almost a third of the participants were sexually active including about 1 in 10 men aged 90 to 95.
The fact is- many older men who are sexually active want to have sex and those who have sexual life want to have more sex.
The researchers studied the results of a sexuality of almost 2,800 Australian men and found that Australian men aged 40% of 75-79 years of age had had sex in the past 12 months and males aged 90-95, 11 % reported sexual activity with someone else over the prior year.
The results of the study allow the researches make a conclusion that old men want to have sexual life but due to several circumstances they have limitation in it. The study gives a list of factors which explain a lack of sexual activity among older men. They are: increasing age, lower testosterone levels, a partner’s lack of interest in sex, or physical limitations, osteoporosis, prostate cancer, diabetes. The other factors are: constant usage of depression drugs, use of some blood pressure drugs (beta-blockers).
Sexual activity is associated with good physical and mental health. And the question is “Does long sexual life influence positively on health or good health promotes good sex?” The study excludes the age from the factors causing lack of sexual interest in men.
The problem arising is that we do not want to recognize older men as having sexual lives and do not want help them to discuss their sexual problems with professional, considering that the age causes no desire and lack of sexual drive in males.
Such studies show that even in 90-95 people can be sexually active and be sexually happy with their partners.
